| Before USB and FIREWIRE, SCSI (Small Computer System Interface) was used to connect samplers, sampling keyboards, sampling workstations like the the AKAI MPCs, and computers to hard drives, cdrom drives and burners. Older equipment with SCSI connections are still extremely useful and valuable. If you own equipment that use SCSI connections, the items on this page may be useful to you. |
| This GLYPH 2 GB SCSI hard drive is perfect for use with older model samplers including the AKAI MPC2000 and MPC2000XL. I'm including an 18" CENTRONICS 50 PIN SCSI cable, SCSI TERMINATOR, and power cable. To use it with an MPC, you will need a CENTRONICS 50 pin to 50 PIN HIGH-PITCH SCSI cable. I can order this for you from my store, Guitar Center Detroit. 586-296-6161 or 586-441-3569. It is working fine. I just formatted it for a PC windows based computer. It has 1.95 GB available after formatting. The amount of free space may vary slightly, depending on what the drive is connected to. It is missing one connector spring clip on the left of the top SCSI jack. This does not hinder the SCSI connection. Also, the power switch does not work. It can be powered up by plugging it in. I recommend connecting it to a power to a regulated power conditioner like the Monster PRO 2500 or the Furman PL-8C. both usually available at Guitar Center Detroit, in Roseville Michigan.
